Eat and stay in Door County
Fish boils, supper clubs, orchards, bakeries and the lodging categories that suit a Door County trip.
What the county tastes like
Door County eating is built on three things: fish, fruit and the supper club. Whitefish and other Great Lakes fish anchor the menus; cherries and apples come from the orchards that line the peninsula; and the supper club format — a relish tray, a brandy old fashioned, a leisurely dinner — survives here better than almost anywhere else in Wisconsin.
The fish boil is the region's signature public meal: a kettle, a fire, whitefish, potatoes and onions, finished with a flare of kerosene that boils the pot over. Many lodges and restaurants stage them in season. Confirm days and whether reservations are needed.

Dining
Categories rather than listings: individual kitchens change hands and seasons.
Lodging
Book early for festival weekends; the shoulder seasons are quieter and often better value.
