Plan your visit to Baileys Harbor
Where Baileys Harbor sits, how to reach Cana Island and the Ridges, and why it suits a nature-first trip.
The practical bits
- Position
- East shore on Highway 57, north of Jacksonport
- Best for
- Walking, lighthouses, Lake Michigan beaches and quiet
- Lighthouse access
- Cana Island by causeway; range lights on foot
- Season
- Summer for tours; quieter and colder either side
A two-night nature base
Baileys Harbor rewards two nights: one for the village and Cana Island, one for the Ridges and a longer walk. It is also well placed for a day trip north to Newport or south to Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point.
Travellers who want restaurants, shops and evening entertainment should look to Fish Creek or Sister Bay and visit Baileys Harbor for the day.
A day on the quiet side

-
3

Beach time at the county park or a paddle on the lake if conditions allow.
-

Dinner in the village and an early night.
